Seeing our world change – from space

How do satellites help us track climate change?

To understand the effects of climate change on the world, it’s important that researchers get as much accurate information as possible. We use environmental satellites orbiting the Earth to gather this important data.

In this episode, Jeriah explains the story of the first ever satellite, and visits engineers who are building a new satellite that can measure the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. Meanwhile, Scarlett discovers how satellites have helped us track walrus and penguin colonies, as well as how much the Amazon rainforest has shrunk.
